The Boomtown Rats Released Sept 1977. Highest UK chart position - No 18.
The Rats' first album is heavily influenced by bands like the Rolling Stones and Dr Feelgood. The music really shows the energy of the band particularly in the punk-like singles Looking After Number 1 and Mary of the Forth Form. But the Rats were not a punk band - they were doing their own thing. With deep, meaningful lyrics that tell stories of the people and places of their Irish homeland, tracks like Joey's on the Street Again, Neon Heart and the down-tempo I Can Make it if You Can, really showcase the musical talents of the band. A brilliant debut album.
