The 2020 album 'Citizens of Boomtown' was launched just before Covid swept the globe. Concerts were cancelled and fans of the Rats sat at home getting their fix via the internet. To back up the album and the tour, the band set up the 'Citizens of Boomtown' website, which although now closed to focus on other Social Media offerings, still holds a place in every fan's heart.

For me, the Citizens of Boomtown website provided an outlet for some of the thousands of mental images I had developed - images that reflected the songs, their meaning ..... or what they meant to me. This was a chance to get those images out of my head.

As the months of the various lockdowns ticked by I wrote short stories about the songs, the heroes of those songs and the places they lived in or visited. These short stories weave together the imagery of songs that had lived with me since I was ten, together with issues that were current at the time or had been inspired by the Rat's very latest musical output.

For the Citizens of Boomtown website, these stories didn't directly reference the songs that had originally inspired them - you dear reader, had to work that out. That doesn't really work for the format of this discography, and so the stories are referenced below by song title.
