The Great Pyramid Adventure

Working with Ancient World Tours, we've put together an incredible itinerary for Cario in March 2026.  Very much pyramid-focussed, on this tour we will be exploring the entirety of the Great Pyramid of Khufu,  including the areas off limits to the public. We’ll also be  exploring the vast network of beautifully finished subterranean  corridors of the Black Pyramid and, most excitingly of all, the original  ‘North Entrance’ of the Step Pyramid of Zoser.

Pre- and Early Dynastic Study Day - The Egypt Centre, Swansea University

I can't make it to Swansea for what I expect will be a fascinating study day, focussing on my favourite period of ancient Egypt.  Thankfully however, there is an option to join on-line.

Even better - registration is free.

I managed to visit Rome for the first time.....not sure what took me so long!!!

The highlight of the trip was to get to see the Pantheon.  The monolithic columns that support the portico were quarried at Mons Claudianus, in Egypt's Eastern Desert.  I'd visited the quarries at Mons Claudianus twice in 2008, and at long last, I've seen the fruits of all that ancient quarrying work.

Current Research in Egyptology Conference. The latest in this annual series of Egyptology conferences was held at Liverpool University in early September 2024 and was a great success.  Full details can be found here.

Many thanks to all the researchers who presented at the conference, to the delegates and to the CRE committee for all the hard work in making the conference happen.

AUCP had a book stall at the conference and A Gift of Geology was one of the featured titles.

A god among gods.  Among the many reproductions of Anubis, Set and Hathor available to buy at Giza, it was great to see statuettes of Mo Salah in his Liverpool Football Club kit. YNWA
